Kyzan Strategy/Guide

Kyzan is the second boss in Grim Awakening.

Health: Kyzan – 22.6 Million HP

  • Enrage Timer: 6 Minutes
  • Essential Abilities/Traits: Tank Swaps, AOE Cleanse, Lots of purges.
  • Toughness Requirement: 500
  • Hit Requirement: 520

Suggested Raid Setup:

    •  Tanks: 2 Tank (I’ve been told that a cleric tank with 21 points in sentinel could handle one of the AOE cleanses as well).
    •  Healers: 2 Healers (or 3 if you need the 3rd AOE cleanse).
    •   Support: 1 (Archon or Beastmaster preferred, but a Bard is better than nothing).
    •  DPS: 5 dps. This fight really favours ranged. If you really need to, you can probably get away with two – but due to certain spread out mechanics any more would be messy.

    Boss Abilities:

    •  Phase Rip – Summons ghosts that will spin in a circle with swords and shoot out a very long rectangular purple box in the direction they are facing. (Think of the purple boxes on Progenitor if you’ve seen it). If you stand in it you take large amounts of damage per tick as well as it will drain mana and energy.

    Magma Lord Kaliban Strategy/Guide

    Welcome to Grim Awakening. After clearing a couple of (annoying if you’ve never done it) packs of trash you’ll be greeted fairly early by the first boss of Grim Awakening.

    Health: Magma Lord Kaliban – 25.5 Million HP

    • Enrage Timer: 5 Minutes (approx, I’ve seen timers go over 5 a bit as well)
    • Essential Abilities/Traits: Interrupt
    • Toughness Requirement: 500
    • Hit Requirement: 520

    Suggested Raid Setup:

      •  Tanks: 1 Tank. If you have really good DPS you could two tank it to make it easy – but it’s not hard to one tank it.
      •  Healers: 2 Healers (1 Defiler + 1 Chloro is ideal, but you probably don’t want to do this without a Defiler unless you’re going to 3 heal it)
      •   Support: 1 (Archon or Beastmaster preferred, but a Bard is better than nothing).
      •  DPS: 5 dps. This fight favours ranged, but a solid melee DPS could do it just fine.

      Boss Abilities:

      •  Crushed Armor – Tank debuff. This would normally be considered the tank swap mechanism but due to the nature of this fight – you can one tank it so long as everything is timed properly.
